He qualified for the Olympics and represents India in rowing. After winning a silver medal in the Men’s Single sculls events at FISA Asian and Oceania Olympic Qualification Regatta at Chung- Ju- in South Korea. He is the one and only Indian rower to qualify for the Olympics and the ninth rower in the entire history to represent India in Olympics. He was born on 5 April 1991 in Maharashtra, India. Bhokanal was born in a stone crushing laborer poor family in Talegaon, a small village in Maharashtra. His mother name is Asha Bhavana Bhokanal and works for Indian Army in 2012. He started rowing in the age of 14 at Godavari River which is his hometown. Then he started rowing at the Bombay Engineer Group and Centre in Pune in 2012. After this, he shifted to Army Rowing Mode (ARN) for better and advanced training of rowing. He started his rowing career under his first coach named as Kusrat Ali. At present, he is trained under Dronacharyaand Chief National Coach Ismail Baig at ARN, Pune. Dattu has won two gold medal in 2014 National Rowing Championships where he representing the services.
