Chhedi Paswan is a famous Indian politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party, social worker, and Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from Sasaram (SC) (Bihar) Constituency. He was born on 4 February 1956 (age 65 years according to 2021) in Takiya, Distt. Rohtas, Bihar, India. His father’s name is Late Ramchandra Paswan and his mother’s name is Late Lakshmina Devi. His educational qualification is M.A. (Labour and Social Welfare) from Patna University (Bihar). His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He married Smt. Premkali Devi on 01 Jun 1972 and has five children three sons and two daughters.
Chhedi Paswan started his political career as a candidate of Janata Dal (United). He was first elected as a member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from the Chenari in 1985. He has been Secretary-General of the Yuva Lok Dal in Bihar for 1987–89. In 1989, he was elected to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Parliament of India for the 9th Lok Sabha and 10th Lok Sabha (2nd term) from the Sasaram constituency. In the period of 1991 to 2014, he was appointed as a Chairman of Committee on Papers Laid on the Table, Vice Chairman of State Sports Authority, Bihar, Minister of State of Agriculture of (Independent Charge), Government of Bihar, Cabinet Minister of Building Construction & Awas Department, Government of Bihar and three times member of Bihar Legislative Assembly. in 2014, he joined Bharatiya Janata Party and re-elected to 16th Lok Sabha (3rd term) and 17th Lok Sabha (4th term) from Sasaram constituency. Currently, he is serving as a member of the Committee on Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, and the Standing Committee on Transport of Tourism and Culture.
