Chhaya Verma is a famous Indian politician of the Indian National Congress, Agriculturist/Farmer, Medical Practitioner, Social Worker, and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), the upper house of the Indian Parliament from the state of Chhattisgarh. She was born on 18 May 1962 (age 59 years according to 2021) in Raipur (Chhattisgarh). Her father’s name is Shri Ratan Lal Tikariha and her mother’s name is Shrimati Geeta Tikariha. Her educational qualification is M.A., R.M.P. from Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Her religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, India. She married Dr. Dayaram Verma on 27 May 1980 and has two sons.
Chhaya Verma started her political career as a President of Zilla Panchayat, Raipur from 1999-to 2005. After that, she was made a member of Zilla Panchayat, Raipur. In 2016, she was elected to the Rajya Sabha from the state of Chhattisgarh with which she was made a member of the Committee on Social Justice and Empowerment, member of the Hindi Salahkar Samiti of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, member of Committee on Welfare of Other Backward Classes (OBCs), member of Committee on Provision of Computers to Members of Rajya Sabha (PCMRS), member of Committee on Agriculture. Currently, she is serving as a member of the Committee on Empowerment of Women and a member of the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Textiles. She has also received an award from the District Collector, conferred by the Education Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh for her contribution towards promoting adult education at the district level under the aegis of the Nehru Yuva Kendra in 1982, Lifetime Member of Bharat Scouts, and Guides; Member of Pragya Mahila Samiti. She is currently the State Congress Secretary.
