He was born on 13 May 1972 (age 49 years according to 2021) in Rohtak, Haryana, India. His father’s name is Shri Birender Singh (former Union Steel Minister) and his mother’s name is Smt. Prem Lata (a Member of the Legislative Assembly in Haryana representing Uchana Kalan constituency). His educational qualification is B.A. (Hons.) History, M.A. (Modern History), M.Sc. (Public Policy and Management) from St. Stephen's College, Delhi University, Jawahar Lal Nehru University, Delhi and King's College, London (UK). His religion belongs to Jat and Nationality, Indian. He married Smt. Jasmeet Sial on 16 Mar 1999 and has two children one son and one daughter. He is a very good player of cricket as he has been played competitive cricket on a national level, Represented Haryana in the under-15 Vijay Merchant Trophy, and Represented Haryana in the under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy.
Brijendra Singh cleared the Civil Services Examination in the batch of 1998 as he passed with All India Rank 9. He served in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) for 21 years before taking the voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) in 2019 April.
