Bhubaneswar Kalita is a famous Indian politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Advocate, Sportsperson, Social Worker, and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) from the state of Assam. He was born on 1 April 1951 (age 70 years according to 2021) in Rangia, Distt. Kamrup (Assam), India. His father’s name is Late Shri Krishna Kanta Kalita and his mother’s name is Late Shrimati Giribala Kalita. His educational qualification is M.A., LL.B. from Gauhati University, Guwahati. His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, India. He married Shrimati Rwitticka Kalita on 14 October 1986 and has two sons.
Bhubaneswar Kalita started his political career as a candidate for the Indian National Congress. He was first elected to the Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha from the state of Assam for five terms (1984-96, 2008–2014, 2014-19, and 2020 till now). He has also been elected to the Lok Sabha represented Gauhati constituency for 1998–1999, member of Assam Legislative Assembly represented Rangiya constituency for 2001-06. He has been appointed to the Chief Whip of Indian National Congress (Rajya Sabha), President of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Information Technology, Government of Assam, and much more.
