Bashistha Narain Singh is a famous Indian politician of the Janata Dal (United), Agriculturist, Social Worker, and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), the upper house of the Indian Parliament from the state of Bihar. He was born on 24 October 1947 (age 74 years according to 2021) in Village Kopwan, Distt. Buxar (Bihar), India. His father’s name is Late Shri Kamta Singh and his mother’s name is Late Shrimati Lakhmuni Devi. His education qualification is M.A. (History) from Patna University, Patna. His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He married Shrimati Hewanti Singh on 17 May 1967 and has three children one son and two daughters.
Bashistha Narain Singh started his political career as a Member of the Parliamentary Board of Janata Dal in 1990. At the same time, he was elected to the Member of Bihar Legislative Assembly and appointed to the Cabinet Minister of Government of Bihar for 1990-94. In 1994 he became the candidate of the Samata Party and was the President Bihar Samata Party from 1995 to 1998. In 1998, he was elected to the 12 Lok sabhas and in 2002, he was elected to the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament from the state of Bihar, Re-elected to Rajya Sabha (second term) in 2012, third term in 2018. Currently, he is a member of the Court of the Aligarh Muslim University, a member of the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Power and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, and a member of the Committee on Rural Development and Panchayati Raj.
