His latest television serial is Tanhaiyan. On December 12th, 2014, Barun starred in his debut film Main Aur Mr Right in which he played the role of Sukhi Singh. After that, he did movies like Dry dreams, Satra Ko Shaadi Hai, Tu Hai Mera Sunday and 22 Yards. In 2012 Sobti won the Star Parivaar Award in the categories Favourite Jodi (along with Sanaya Irani), Favorite Naya Sadasya Male and Most Stylish Sadasya Male.
