Babul Supriyo is a famous Indian politician of All India Trinamool Congress, playback singer, Film Artist, Musician, and member of the Lok Sabha. His full name is Babul Supriyo Baral. He was born on 15 December 1970 (age 51 years according to 2021) in Uttarpara, West Bengal, India. His father’s name is Shri Sunil Chandra Baral and his mother’s name is Smt. Sumitra Baral. Babul Supriyo was a student of Don Bosco High & Technical School, Liluah, Kolkata. He has done his graduation with B.Com (Hons.) from Calcutta University. His religion belongs to Hinduism and nationality, Indian. He married Rachna Sharma Supriyo on 09 Aug 2016 and has 2 daughters.
Belonging to a musical family, Babul Supriyo decided to enter the entertainment industry. He won a singing competition in his school days which got him the title of the Most Enriching Talent in 1985. Before taking up singing as a full-time career, he briefly worked at the Standard Chartered Bank. While he was in college, he had won 45 music competitions and was a regular performer in the All India Radio and Doordarshan. He featured in several renowned Bollywood Films as a Playback Singer and has delivered several hits and Winner many awards including the prestigious MTV Award, he has also performed as an Actor in several successes Bengali (Mother Tongue) films, Sang in more than a dozen different languages and have performed in musical concerts all over the world in renowned theatres. He is still active as a Singer/Actor. After successful decades in Bollywood, he entered politics in 2014 as a candidate for the BJP. He won his first-ever elections in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. He was made Minister of State in the Ministry of Urban Development and also the Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation. After that, he was re-elected to 17th Lok Sabha (2nd term). In 2019 he was made Union Minister of State and Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. In 2021 he joined the All India Trinamool Congress.
