He was born on 14 Aug 1948 (age 73 years according to 2021) in Rampur, United Provinces, India. His father’s name is Late Shri Mohd. Mumtaz Khan. His educational qualification is a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1974 from Aligarh Muslim University. His religion belongs to Islam and Nationality, Indian. He married Dr. (Smt.) Tazeen Fatima on 17 May 1981 and has two sons. He has been visited Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Most of the countries of Europe and he loves to do Reading, Social Service, etc.
Mohammad Azam Khan started his political career as a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from the Rampur assembly constituency for nine terms (1980-2017). In between, he was appointed to many positions like Member of Parliamentary Research of Reference and Studies Committee of the UP Legislative Assembly for 1982-1985, Member of Delegated Legislation Committee of the UP Legislative Assembly 1984-1985, Minister of Labour of Employment, Muslim Waqf, Revenue, Scarcity, Relief and Rehabilitation, Government of Uttar Pradesh for a short term, Minister of Cooperation of Muslim Waqf, Government of Uttar Pradesh, Leader of the Opposition of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly and many more. He has also been a member of the Rajya Sabha from 1996-2002. In 2012, he was appointed as a Cabinet minister in the government of Uttar Pradesh. In 2019, he was elected to 17th Lok Sabha from Rampur (Uttar Pradesh) Constituency with which he became a member of Standing Committee on Rural Development, Standing Committee on Science & Technology, Environment, Forests and Climate Change, and Consultative Committee, Ministry of Power and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
