Ayan Mukherji is a popular Film Director who is known for his movies like- Wake up Sid and Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani starring Ranbir Kapoor. He was born on 15th August 1983 in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Ayan is a cousin of Bollywood actresses Kajol and Rani Mukherji.
He went to Jamnabai Narsee School, Mumbai for completing his secondary education and later got admission to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology but dropped after the first year.

His interest in film making developed and he started assisting his brother-in-law Ashutosh Gowariker in the film Swades and later assisted Karan Johar for the movie Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna. Ayan after taking a break for some years came up to Karan Johar with the script of Wake up Sid, and the movie went on floor starring Ranbir Kapoor and Konkona Sen in lead. The movie impressed audiences and critics.
Later under the banner of Karan Johar’s production house Dharma Productions, Ayan was approached to direct Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani starring Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor. The movie proved to be a blockbuster hit.
Currently, he is working on his next venture Brahmastra starring Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Mouni Roy.
