Asit Kumar Mal is a famous Indian politician of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), Social Worker, and Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from Bolpur (West Bengal) Constituency. He was born on 11 July 1955 (age 66 years according to 2021) in Margram, Birbhum, West Bengal, India. His father’s name is Late Shri Dharanidhar Mal and his mother’s name is Late Smt. Kunti Mal. His educational qualification is University Entrance Examination from Rampurhat College Burdwan University. His religion belongs to Islam and Nationality, Indian. He is married.
Asit Kumar Mal started his political career as a candidate of the Indian National Congress as he served as a Member of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly for consecutive five terms. In between he has been appointed to the Chief Whip of AITC Legislative Party, West Bengal Legislative Assembly for 2011 – 2015, Chairperson of West Bengal Khadi Village Industry Board for 2011 – 2013, and Chairperson of Standing Committee on Social Welfare & Disaster Management, Relief and Rehabilitation, West Bengal Legislative Assembly for 2011 – 2015. In 2014, he joined All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) and in 2019 he was elected to the 17th Lok Sabha from Bolpur (West Bengal) Constituency with which he was made a member of the Standing Committee on Human Resource Development, Consultative Committee for Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, currently serving as a member of Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth, and Sport.
