Dr. Ashok Kumar Yadav started his political career as a candidate of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He was first elected to the Member of Bihar Legislative Assembly from Keoti (Vidhan Sabha constituency) for consecutive three terms (2005-15). In May 2019, he was elected to the 17th Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Parliament of India representing Madhubani, Bihar in the Indian general election. Currently, he is serving as a Member of Committee on Welfare of Other Backward Classes, member of Committee on Papers Laid on the Table, member of Central Silk Board, member of Consultative Committee, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, and member of Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth, and Sport.
