Aparajita Sarangi is a famous Indian politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, Social Worker, and Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from Bhubaneswar (Odisha) constituency. She was born on 8 October 1969 (age 52 years according to 2021) in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, India. She belongs to a Brahmin family. Her father’s name is Shri Ajit Mishra (who was a professor of English) and her mother’s name is Smt. Kusum Mishra. She did her schooling at Mount Carmel School, Bhagalpur, Bihar, and her educational qualification is graduated in English (Honours) from Bhagalpur University. Her religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. She married Shri Santosh Kumar Sarangi and has two children named Archita Sarangi, Shikhar Sarangi.
Aparajita Sarangi was always a brilliant student during her study time as she topped in all the examinations in Schools & Colleges. She cleared the Civil Services Examination in 1994 at the age of 24 and joined the Indian Administrative Service from the 1994 batch of Odisha cadre. She worked as an IAS officer for a very long time. She has also been awarded the Shakti Samman in 2012. In 2018, she discontinued her job and joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She was first contested for the 17th Lok Sabha Indian general election and won from Bhubaneswar (Odisha) constituency in 2019. She was also appointed as a spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party. She has also been worked as the Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Rural Development and has also worked as Bhubaneswar Municipal Commissioner and secretary of the state's mass education department.
