Anjan Dutt is also known as Anjan was born on 19 January 1953 into a Hindu family in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. By profession, he is an actor, director, musician and, songwriter. He attended St. Paul’s School, Darjeeling to complete his basic education. In 70’s he joined a theatre group called Open Theatre. He has also performed in various foreign playwrights like Sartre, Peter Weiss, Jean Genet, and Bertold Brecht in ’80s. But the Open Theatre got his inspiration from Nandikar, which was already a famous theatre group.
They faced many problems due to politically sensitive content. In 1981, he makes his debut from a Bengali film Chaalchitra, which was directed by Mrinal Sen. The film, was hit at the box office and his performance was critically acclaimed at the Venice Film Festival. He did many art films but never gets succeed in it. From which, he did many jobs like in advertising, and a journalist for the Kolkata-based daily The Statesman. He was greatly influenced by Kabir Suman is a Bengali singer and music director. He did many solo albums like Shute Ki Chao (1994), Keu Gaan Gaye (1997), Hello Bangladesh (1999), Asamoy (2000), Onek Din Por (2004), Abar Pothe Dekha (2007), and Unoshaat (2014).
