His educational qualification is Bachelor of Arts from MM Arts & Science College in Sirsi. His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He married Shrirupa Hegde on 29 Nov 1998 and has two children one son and one daughter. He loves to Listening Indian classical music, Read and study books.
Anantkumar Hegde was interested in the political world at an early age as he was a member of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in his college days. He was first elected to 11th Lok Sabha in 1996 from Uttara Kannada constituency and maintained his position in parliament for six terms (11th, 12th, 14th, 15th, 16th, and 17th Lok sabha) from 1996 to 1999 and 2004 to the present. Under 17th Lok Sabha, he was made a member of the Standing Committee on Science & Technology, Environment, Forests, and Climate Change and a Member of the Consultative Committee, Ministry of Shipping. He has been appointed as a Union Minister of State of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship for 2017-19 and a member of the Spices Board (1996-97, 2000-03, 2004 and 2009 – 2014). He is also part of Social and Cultural Activities as he is a Founder President of Kadamba of a national level NGO working in the field of rural development, rural health, formation of self-help groups, rural marketing, and other rural welfare programs, social services, etc. He is a Hindu nationalist and member of the right-wing Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
