She is the daughter of Vishwa Mohan Badola and has 2 siblings- brother TV actor Varun Badola and Sister Kalindi Badola. She is married to TV director and producer Ravi G. Kaushal and the couple has their own production house named Mangalam Arts.
Alka is a trained theater artist and got her training from the reputed National School of Drama, Delhi. In 2017, she and her mother were sentenced to 2 years jail in Sangrur District Jail for cheque bounce case.
