Alagappa University was established in May 1985 by R.M Alagappa Chettiar. The tagline of this university is ‘Excellence in Action’. It is located in the business town of Karaikudi in Sivaganga in Tamil Nadu. It is spread over an area of 420 acres of land. It has been recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC). It is accredited with ‘A’ grade by NAAC. The university offers many courses such as M.A. (Tamil, Communicative English, Women’s Studies Master of Social Work), M.Sc. (Mathematics, Physics, Biotechnology, Oceanography, Computer Science), M.B.A. (Banking and Insurance, Corporate Secretaryship), M. Tech., M.Com and B. Ed. 21 colleges are affiliated with this university. The university is equipped with modern auditorium and classroom.
