He was born on 1 May 1961 (age 60 years according to 2021) in Ranikhet, Almora, Uttarakhand, India. His father’s name is Late Shri Kamalapati Bhatt and his mother’s name is Late Smt. Tulsi Devi Bhatt. His educational qualification is Bachelor of Arts from Kumaun University, Nainital, and LL.B. from Constituent College, Almora. His religion belongs to Hinduism and nationality, Indian. He married Pushpa Bhatt on 28 Feb 1986 and was blessed with 1 son and 3 daughters. His hobbies are reading Literature, Papers, Historical Books, and Spiritual Books- Ramayan, Veda, and Yoga.
Ajay Bhatt was first made a member of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, member of Public Accounts Committee, Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, and CPA of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly for 1996-2000. In the same year, he was appointed as a Chairperson of the Privilege Committee of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly. In 2001, he was made Cabinet Minister of Sansadiya Karya, Health, Disaster Exercise of Govt. of Uttarakhand. He has been a member of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly for two Terms (2002-2007, 2012-2017). In between, he became Chairperson of NRHM, Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, and became leader of Opposition, Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly. In May 2019, he was elected to the 17th Lok Sabha from Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar for the first time. He has also served as MLA from Ranikhet Legislative Assembly. He did some Social and Cultural Activities as well as he was the adhyakshy of Co-operative Drug Factory Ranikhet for 10 years, Nagrik Surakshya Parishad, Rashtriya Gramothan Parishad, Uttranchal Harijan Shilp Kala Uttan, and connected with so many other institutions. Currently, he is the Union Minister of State of Ministry of Defence and Union Minister of State, Ministry of Tourism.
