He was born on 26 October 1963 (age 57 years according to 2021) in Andimadam, Madras State, India. His father’s name is Shri S.K. Andimuthu and his mother’s name is Smt. Chinnapillai. He did his B.Sc. in Mathematics from the Government Arts College in Musiri, graduated in law from the Government Law College in Madurai, and his master's from Government Law College Tiruchirapalli. His religion belongs to Hinduism and nationality, Indian. He married M. A. Parameswari on 04 Feb 1996 and was blessed with 1 daughter named Mayuri Raja. He has a keen interest in reading books and writing columns and poems in Tamil and English. He has also published his books named “An Autobiography of Democracy” Oru Suyasarithai—Collection of Tamil poems; 2G Saga Unfolds (English Book); 2G Avilum Unmaigal (Tamil Book).
A. Raja made his political journey as fabulous as he was elected to the 11th Lok Sabha in 1996 for the 1st time and Re-elected to 13th Lok Sabha (2nd term) in 1999. On 13 October 1996, he was elected to the Minister of State for Rural Development he serve that post for 4 years and after that in 2002, he was elected to Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, serve for two years. In 2004 he was re-elected to the 14th Lok Sabha where he defeated Sundaram. Dr. M. of ADMK. Raja was investigated in the 2G Spectrum case, along with two other members of the DMK, Dayanidhi Maran and Kanimozhi.
