A. M. Ariff is a famous Indian politician, Advocate, and Social Worker. He was born on 20 May 1964 (age 57 years according to 2021) in Mannar, Kerala, India. His father’s name is Shri Abdulmajeed (a police officer) and his mother’s name is Smt. Thankamma. A. M. Ariff was a student of the YMCA LP School in Alappuzha, Leo XIIIth School, Alappuzha, and ECEK Union School at Kuthiyathodu. His educational qualification is BSc. (Zoology), LLB from S.N. College, Cherthala, and Kerala Law Academy, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. His religion belongs to Islam and nationality, Indian. A. M. Ariff was interested in the political world at an early age as he was elected as College Union magazine editor and later, as chairman of the union in his college life. After that, he became a state committee member of DYFI, the youth wing of CPI (M). He was first elected to the Member of Dist. Council, Alappuzha in the year 1990. He became a member of the Alappuzha district committee in 1996. After that, he was elected to the state legislative assembly in 2006. He has been a Member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly (Three terms) constantly from 2006 to 2019 and Chairman of the Private Members Bill and Resolution, Kerala Legislative Assembly 2016 – 2019. In May 2019 he was elected to be a member of the 17th Lok Sabha from Alappuzha Constituency for the first time. He is a Member of the Standing Committee on Urban Development and a Member of the Consultative Committee, Ministry of Culture and Tourism since 2019.
