Sushmita Sen is the first Indian Women to win the Miss Universe Contest. Sen has crowned Femina Miss India Universe in 1994 and later in the same year, she was crowned as Miss Universe 1994 at a tender age of 18. She is also an actress and model. The beauty queen was born on 19th November 1975 in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh (now in Telangana). Sen belongs to a Bengali Baidya family. Her father, Shubeer Sen is a retired Indian Air Force Wing Commander and her mother, Subhra Sen is a jewellery designer and owner of a Dubai-based store. Sushmita Sen has two siblings, a brother Rajeev and sister named Neelam.
Sushmita went to Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute in New Delhi and also to St. Ann’s High School in Secunderabad. Sushmita Sen adopted two babies, both girls Aaliyah and Alisah. One in the year 2000 and the other one in the year 2010.
After being crowned as the Miss Universe, Sushmita became an actress of the Indian Film Industry. Her debut movie was Dastak (1996) alongside Sharad Kapoor and Mukul Dev. She also did a few regional movies, Ratchagan being her first Tamil action film. Two years down the line in 1999, Sen was seen in David Dhawan’s Biwi No. 1 starring Salman Khan and Karishma Kapoor. She was awarded Filmfare Best Supporting Actress for the same movie. In the same year, Sen appeared in another movie named Sirf Tum and got the nomination for Best Supporting Actress again.
In the early 2000s, her first movie Aankhen brought her critical acclaim where she was starring opposite Arjun Rampal. Though the life turning movie in her life was the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Main Hoon Na (2004). Later in that year, Sushmita acted in Main Aisa Hi Hoon opposite Ajay Devgan and in the remake of Cactus Flower-Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya? As a lead role opposite Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. Her another movie in a lead role was Karma Aur Holi. Her other movies include Dulha Mil Gaya (2010), No Problem (2010), Nirbaak (2015).
