Ravishankar Jayadritha Shastri also known as Ravi Shastri is a former Indian cricketer who took birth on 27th May 1962 in Bombay. He was also the former director of the Indian cricket team. Ravi completed his school education from Don Bosco High School, Matunga. Ravi took the game of cricket very seriously from his childhood days, he played for Don Bosco and reached final in 1976 but lost.
In 1977 under the captaincy of Shastri Don Bosco won the Giles Shield title. He was later then selected as a Ranji Player for representing Bombay. Ravi Shastri started his career of cricket as a left-arm spin bowler and later turned into all rounder.
As a batsman, he was known for his chapati shot. Shastri used to play either as an opener or in the middle order. The highlight of Shastri career was in 1985 when he was elected Champion of Champions in the World Championship of Cricket. He equalled Garry Sobers's record of hitting six sixes in an over.
