Mohanlal Viswanathan Nair aka Mohanlal a renowned name in South Indian cinema, an actor, producer and a playback singer also, Mohan has excelled in every field. He basically works in Malayalam Cinema, working for almost 4 decades, in which he has also shown his acting skills by acting in more than 300 movies, he has also acted in many regional movies also. Born on 21 May 1960 aged 57 years belongs to Elanthoor, Pathanamthitta, Kerala, India. Currently living in Therava, Ernakulam, Kerala. Mohan’s father Vishwanathan Nair, who is a former bureaucrat and also a law secretary with the Kerala government, and Santhakumari. He is the youngest child, did his schooling at Model School, Thiruvananthapuram and did graduation from Mahatma Gandhi College in Bachelor of Commerce, Thiruvananthapuram. Mohan did his first stage performance in his school days in the sixth standard for a play called Computer Boy in which his role was a ninety-year-old man. Also, he was a Kerala State Wrestling Champion for 1977-78. Mohan made his acting debut from a Malayalam movie named Thiranottam in his teenage in 1978, but due to some censorship issue movie was delayed for next 25 years. In 1980 he played a role of Villan in a romantic movie named Manjil Virinja Pookkal. In mid-1980s he was established as the main lead actor, he gained his stardom from the movie Rajavinte Makan, in 1986. Some of his successful movies are Iruvar (1997), a hindi movie which was a crime drama Company (2002) and Janatha Garage (2016). Honoured with 5 National Awards- 2 for Best Actor, 1 special Jury Mention and Special Jury Award for his outstanding performance as an Actor, also 9 from Kerala State Film Awards and Filmfare Awards. Also being awarded PADMA SHRI award in 2001, in 2009, became first Indian Actor to be honoured with Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army of India. Mohan married the daughter of Tamil film producer K.balaji named Suchitra on 28 April 1988. They have 2 children named Pranav and Vismaya Mohanlal. His son also aspires to become an Actor and made his debut in Mohanlal’s Onnaman in 2001. He has playback over 30 songs, most of them are in the films in which he acted. Also a Black Belt in Taekwondo from Kukkiwon, South Korea, in 2012, a first South Indian Actor to receive this Title.
