Malini Awasthi born on 11th February 1967 in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, India is an Indian Folk Singer singing in different languages like Hindi, Awadhi, Bundelkhandi and Bhojpuri. Malini has been awarded the highest civilian award Padma Shri in 2016. She also performs Thumri and Kajri.  She did her graduation from Bhatkhande University, Lucknow. She is ganda bandh student of the legendary classical singer, Girija Devi of Banaras Gharana, who has been honoured with Padma Vibhushan. She married IAS officer Awanish Awasthi who is currently working as Principal Secretary to the Government of Uttar Pradesh, Department of Information.

Malini is a regular performer at Jahan-e-Khusrau, popular classical music festival. She has the high pitch in comparison to other singers and is popular for a rendition of thumari, Thaare Raho Baanke Shyam. She participated on TV for NDTV Imagines Junoon. For UP election 2012she was selected as the brand ambassador by Election Commission. In 2013 Kumb Mela, she was seen performing there. She lends her voice to Bollywood movie Dum Laga Ke Haisha, song “SUNDER SUSHEEL” in 2015, composed by Anu Malik. She has sung songs for some Bollywood movies like for Jai Ho Chhath Maiya, Bhole Shiv Shankar, Bumm Bumm Bole, Agent Vinod, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, song Bhagan Ke Rekhan Ki for Issaq in 2013, Chaarfutiya Chhokare in 2014. She has won Sahara Awadh Samman in 2003.
