He suggests the new representative move a confidence-seeking motion in the Legislative Assembly. M. G. Ramachandran held the office for the longest tenure which was 10 years, 5 months and 25 days from June 30, 1977, until his death on December 24, 1987. P. S. Kumaraswamy Raja who belonged to the Indian National congress became the first chief minister of Tamil Nadu.
