The Bharathidasan University is located in Palkalaiperur, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India. The University was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu. The Bharathidasan University was established in 1982. The university is named after “Late Bharathidasan” who was one of the great Tamil poet of India. The Bharathidasan University is Re- accredited by NAAC with “A” Grade. The university is recognized by the University Grant Commission (UGC). The motto of the university is “We will create a brave new world”. There are 10 university colleges of Bharathidasan University. There are more than 100 colleges affiliated under Bharathidasan University like Government Colleges, Aided Colleges, Government Colleges (Women), Unaided Colleges and Unaided Colleges (Women). The Bharathidasan University is also having a campus at Khajamalai. The Chancellor of Bharathidasan University is Sh. Konijeti Rosaiah who is also the Hon’ble Governor of Tamil Nadu. He was also the Ex – Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. The Pro - Chancellor of the University is Sh. P. Palaniappan who is also the Hon’ble Minister for Higher Education of Govt. of Tamil Nadu. The Vice-Chancellor of the University is Prof. K. Meena. Bharathidasan University offers postgraduates, PG diploma, diploma, certificate, integrated and certificate programmes to the students. Some of the courses offered by the university are M.A. (in History, Tamil, English Studies, Journalism & Mass Communication, Sociology, Economics, Gender studies, Human Resource Management, Inclusive Development etc.), M.Sc. (in Bioinformatics, Life Sciences, Media and Communication, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biotechnology, Industrial Biotechnology, Microbiology, Marine Science, Biochemistry, Geology, Yoga, Fashion Technology etc.), M.P.A. (in Classical Music, Folk Dance, Visual Art etc.), MBA, M.tech (in various streams), M.LISc and many more. The facilities which are being provided by the university to the students are Teacher Oriented Televised Education (TOTE) Studio, Visual Class Room, Library, Hostels, Canteen, and many more.
